What are you doing?
« on: September 12, 2013, 10:07:37 AM »
Give us an update.  Most of us have lost touch in the last few years, tell us whats new in your life, for instance, x t r married a woman and is now a baby daddy.  You know, that kind of stuff.

After the dust settled on AA3, we played it for a few months.  My business took off and I worked most of the time for a few years.  Online gaming just really isn't as fun if I don't have at least one other player on vent or skype to play with.

One day while filming I met a girl.  We are married now.  hahahaha.  It wasn't quite that easy, but she's pretty awesome though not completely on board with the thought of me playing video games to often.  We are in Austin, but likely moving to Colorado in the next year to the Denver area.

I started posting a few things on the AA forums before PG was talked about and someone recognized me and emailed me about beta testing because the DEVs wanted more competition driven people in the group.  So for about 6 months I beta tested the game when I could.  If you have any questions just ask.

I'd really like everyone that has facebook to like the i9. page at http://facebook.com/iceninegaming and ask us if you wanna be in the private group.

Went to China for 2 months with a few friends was fucking fantastic. Girls are nice too. Didn't mind there tits tbh. Went to Great Wall, died in 44C ( 110F ) heat. Loved the culture and history of China. Wish i still there tbh. food was a+ ( sorry americans ) and i loved eating everything ( no i didnt eat dog or cat or some random human ) but i went to eat lots of exotic seafood's and stuff that was expensive. Loved having your own driver and to play with a BMW 760i. I wont lie i was with the definitely in the very upper upper class of society ( not like billionaires ) and it was pretty good life style. My friends father has 18.5k $ in his trunk of the car ( 100'000 rmb ). Got to meet alot of great people and all want me to visit them again. I drank alot of Beer and a little of chinese vodka ( russians better ). It was extremely hard trying to get with a girl cuz no one under stands English that well, except for some people. but alot of tried to talk to me as much as they can! the night life style is absolutely lovely. just exactly like NY ( except people on coke , e , and what ever , drugs there is punishable by death ) people were always on the streets so many pretty women.
The one thing which is weird i see like 21-22 years old married or in a relationships. sure you see people in relationships and stuff but i mean like almost every girl there had a bf. ( i think i read up something that the ratio is 4 guys to 1 girl , not 100% sure though ) One thing is i love the drinking thing there, like im drinking beer on the streets and no one even cares, hell i even see people working and there drinking beer having smokes and no one gives a shit. The other thing is there life style i seen alot of people always going out to drink and smoke and gamble. Maybe not to different from here in the America's but like every night they have get togethers and drink and smoke and play mahjong or there chinese card games. Well thats all for now. I could keep writing another 800 words.

I'm fine, quit my old shitty job to travel to china, currently trying to get a job at a PC store. School will be 2014. 2 years of 30 hours of work and travelling is over for now. time to get re-educated again and make big bucks like you Karnifex.

Hi Karni!

Since I don't see too many familiar names here yet, this is mainly for you.  Let's see..I have graduated High School and College since we last spoke and now work a ton of hours as a consultant at a public accounting firm in Chicago.  I spend my free time travelling and have been to three different continents in the last 3 years.  Occasionally, i'll drop by the twl forums and boot up Rome Total War, BF2, or other free fps that still run on my P4 system from the i9 days.  It would be fun to laugh with newB, chun, haunter, and cmythunder again while run shooting through IC or throwing some bs nade from the tower in mout.

Here are some old memories that I found while digging around.  I still have all of my parsed logs.

Btw congrats on getting married!

focus here,
We'll I've been divorced since then.. been to war since then.. been promoted since then.. and now been in paradise since then. I'm reaching the end of my enlistment in the military and considering doing another 6 years. I live in Hawaii for the time being and, if I stay in the service, will be moving to Maryland in the next 2 years. I'm sure most of you have seen or heard that I own a gaming community now sponsoring teams, guilds and gaming organizations under the name Focus Gaming. been doing that for nearly a year now. I bought the car I've wanted since I was a kid playing Gran Turismo 1; Mitusbishi Lancer Evolution. I have the 2012 Evo X GSR, not really the one from GT, but all the same to me.

Yep. Looking forward to the new AA and us getting back together.

I sold my house in downtown Bentonville (Walmart headquarters) and moved out onto 40 acres in the country.  You have to take a dirt road to get to my driveway and another half mile through the woods on my private drive to get to my house.  We built the house ourselves which is what I spent most of my time doing the last couple of years.  We have a spring that runs across the place that we drink out of.  We grow vegetables and raise animals for food and burn wood for heat.  Self-sufficiency is really important to us and we like the privacy of the backwoods of the Ozarks.  I have a two year old daughter that I take care of while my wife is at work during the day while I take care of the farm.

I'll see what I can dig up.  Unfortunately I don't have access to my old email account.  Haunter is really the only one I have spoken with in the last few years.  I'm surprised this still exists http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/62847/.  I guess it's hard to just forget 1500+ hours of your life.

My name is James,

I wanted to post a little about myself to clear the air a little bit for some of the older i9 players. I played AA2 from start, to just about finish. I played under paranoiD. I played for Above Average, Lost Cause, epiC, and Final Destination.

After AA2 went down the shitter I moved to Combat Arms (terrible game) and with permission from karnifex I made IceNine. We played 2 seasons winning the first by a land slide, and making the playoffs the second, but eventually the game died and no one cared to play/practice anymore. i9 is now well known and somewhat legendary in that game due to our maturity and out right respect towards the community. But nowadays I free lance from game to game now, starcraft 2, black ops 2, soldier front 2 etc..

I admired i9 from the day I vs'ed you all in a scrim, always wanted to join but never had the computer to keep up with ya. Now that I have a new computer I would love to help resurrect i9 and bring competition into AAPG.
A little more about me, I am 22, I reside in Beaverton Oregon and work as an equipment operator for a construction company. I'm free weekends, and most week nights unless I'm out of town for work. My steam ID is paranoid70 if anyone cares to add me.

Well hell, if Myth is here, I would be remiss not to show up...has it really been ten years?

Maybe a few less than ten from my last foray, though

And who could forget this gem?

Anyway, I saw dark playing proving grounds and figured I'd give it a try, then looked into who else might still be around. After damn near dropping out of college, I gave up on gaming to get shit sorted, graduated, then worked my way into industry. Wasn't easy, but I'm back to a point where I've found myself playing games again.

With that, I re-invented myself to a degree, taking on a new name with a bit more thought and uniqueness put into it than my last one. For the past year I've been largely playing Planetside 2, as I've never really gotten away from that tactical first person shooter play that we've etched into our brains over many a match. Though I've long lost the will or the free time to dedicate to competitive gaming, I still like my casual gaming to be of a competitive nature. Some habits die hard.

I may picked up a bit of a flair for the dramatic, though...

After graduation, perhaps with no small amount of irony, I found myself doing a bit of voice acting as a hobby. If you've played Rise of the Triad, you've heard me spout off one liners as Taradino Cassatt or Ian Paul Freely. There's other assortments of things here and there that you can find on my site if you're interested.

good to see you around golden gun.  i think most of us have the same thoughts about gaming.  when we play, we want it to be fun and challenging, but we just don't have every night to spare like in the old days.  im in the middle of a move from Texas to Colorado, but my house in CO will have a nice little basement for me to call my own and once I'm set up, I'd like to get us into something.  Not alot, but something.
